Adoption Stories

Lucky

We adopted Lucky in October 2006. He is the best dog we've ever had. He is very good with the children, other pets and loves to show off his tricks for company. He is very loving and minds better than most children do! Lucky is so smart, too. If we were better trainers, I do believe he could talk. We are retired and our children are grown, so Lucky brings a lot of enjoyment to our lives.

Thank You,
B.R. and Linda Hall

Simba

My husband and I want to let you know how much we love our new puppy Simba which we adopted from the Humane Association 2/9/08. Simba has been so much fun and is quickly learning how to navigate our townhouse, go outside for bathroom breaks, and has even been on his first road trip without any problems. He’s a great dog and we are so fortunate to have stumbled into the NHA one Saturday to adopt him. Everyone thinks he is the cutest and he has the best disposition. Our vet said he is in great shape which says a lot for the quality of care you provide to all your animals.

Again we are blessed to have such a wonderful dog and thank your organization for all its hard work!!
Much Thanks!
Angela, John, and Simba Hart

Grover

We adopted Grover in November of 2007 – we haven’t had him very long, but we couldn’t love him more! He has more energy than we bargained for, but this has turned out to be a good thing! He loves to play, inside and outside, and will go anywhere as long as we’re with him!

He is a wonderful companion for us, and our cat likes him, too (most of the time)! We just gush over him all the time, and are already contemplating expanding our family even more – we’ll head to NHA when we do!

Thanks for all you do for the animal community of Nashville!
Sincerely,
Chelsey and Taylor Franks

Riley

Adopted Riley (formerly Bagheera) in May of 2006. He was just 8 weeks old and only weighed 3.5 lbs! His little front legs were all shaved where he had had IV's because he was dehydrated. He was so tiny! The tag on his crate said he was a Shi-Tzu mix, a perfect small dog that would do well in our small apartment. Boy were we wrong!

Riley kept growing and growing and growing! Now, 1 1/2 years later, he weighs 80 pounds! But that just means more dog to love! Riley loves sitting outside on the porch and watching the birds and squirrels. And he never gets tired of playing catch.

We are so glad that NHA provides such an awesome opportunity for so many animals to find loving homes.

We love our mutt!

Lala

We met Gypsy Lala in May 06 when she went by the name "Monkey". She was the first cat we looked at and stayed our favorite even after looking at all the others. She rubbed up against us and purred, which was weird since her name tag said she was shy. She is still shy around new people, but I guess she just knew we were going to be her parents! We couldn't wait to get her home and take her to the pet store to buy her everything! Lala is such a funny cat - she has never meowed and only makes noises that other animals make (like owls, monkies, and birds). She licks my face first thing in the morning when my alarm clock goes off, follows me around everywhere in the house, and talks to me all day long. When I'm sad, she's always there to do her best to cheer me up - and it always works! She sleeps, eats, watches tv, and plays video games with us.

We love her more than words could ever express, and we know she loves us, too. Animals can give you what no one else but God can and that is unconditional love. We don't know what we would ever do without her!

Thank you for giving us such a great pet who has been nothing but love and purrfection!
