This is Jake. I adopted him from NHA in Dec. of 02, a few months after losing my Chocolate Lab. I went to the NHA to get another Lab, but Jake (he was called 'Mapco' there, because that is where he was found) was in the next cage to the Lab I was looking at. I didn't want an older dog, I wanted a Lab puppy, but Jake just wagged his tail and didn't take his eyes off of me. I finally asked to see him, and he came right over to me and put his paw on my knee, and I knew this was my dog. Little did I know, he'd turn out to not only be my best friend, but he saved my life.

Jake was the best behaved boy ever and never woke me when I slept, except this one morning about a year after I adopted him. He was licking my face frantically. He woke me up because I was having an asthma attack in my sleep. I went to the E.R., and the doctors' there told me if Jake hadn't woken me, I would have died.

Jake is an angel with 4 legs and invisible wings...but an angel.
