Lost and Found Pets

What to do if you've lost your pet

Act immediately!

Notify your local shelters, veterinary hospitals, Metro Animal Control, The Tennessean classifieds, and Nashville Petfinders.

NHA keeps a lost & found pet database at the shelter. It is best to bring a photo to the shelter and submit a report. You can also call in a report; be prepared to describe the pet's:

  • Appearance: breed, coat type, ears, tail, age, weight, sex, color, etc.
  • Identification: tags, microchip, etc.
  • Location: where your pet lives, when and where your pet was last seen

What to do if you find a pet

Notify Nashville Petfinders and place a found ad in The Tennessean. Then call us with a complete description of the pet. You can also take the animal to your vet or local shelter to be scanned for a microchip; this could quickly lead you to the owner!
