What to do if you've lost your pet
Act immediately!
Notify your local shelters, veterinary hospitals, Metro Animal Control, The
Tennessean classifieds, and Nashville Petfinders.
NHA keeps a lost & found pet database at the shelter. It is best to bring
a photo to the shelter and submit a report. You can also call in a report; be
prepared to describe the pet's:
- Appearance: breed, coat type, ears, tail, age, weight, sex, color, etc.
- Identification: tags, microchip, etc.
- Location: where your pet lives, when and where your pet was last seen

What to do if you find a pet
Notify Nashville Petfinders and place a found ad in The Tennessean. Then call
us with a complete description of the pet. You can also take the animal to your
vet or local shelter to be scanned for a microchip; this could quickly lead
you to the owner!
