As an animal shelter, we are always on the lookout for ways to make a difference in the lives of animals in need. That’s why when the Amory Humane Society in Monroe County, Mississippi, put out an urgent request for help in the wake of devastating tornadoes that swept through Mississippi and Alabama, we knew we had to act fast.

Thanks to the incredible work of the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), we were able to quickly mobilize and provide critical support for impacted animals. The Amory Humane Society was caring for more than 60 shelter animals at the time of the storm, and these animals needed to be safely relocated to shelter partners and an ASPCA recovery facility where they would receive care until they could be made available for adoption.

Relocating many of these homeless animals out of state has freed up critical shelter space in Mississippi for stray animals or missing pets in need of temporary boarding until they can be reunited with their families. This was a crucial part of the rescue effort, and we were proud to be a part of it. On April 1st, we received eight dogs from the Amory Humane Society in Mississippi, and our team worked tirelessly to provide them with the care and love they needed to find their forever homes.

We are thrilled to announce that all 8 of these sweet dogs have now been adopted into loving families! Seeing them leave our shelter and go to their new homes is truly a bittersweet feeling. While we will miss them dearly, we are grateful to have played a role in helping them find happiness and joy with their new families.

This experience has been a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. Animals have a way of bringing people together, and it is heartwarming to see so many people come together to help animals in need. We are grateful for the support of the ASPCA and for the kindness and generosity of our community.

We also want to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of adopting pets from animal shelters and rescue organizations. There are so many amazing animals waiting for their forever homes, just like the eight dogs we were lucky enough to care for. By adopting a pet from a shelter or rescue organization, you are not only providing a loving home for an animal in need, but you are also making room for other animals to be rescued and cared for.

We want to thank everyone who has supported us in our mission to make a difference in the lives of animals in need. Together, we can continue to create a brighter future for animals everywhere.
