As an entirely gift-based not-for-profit, Nashville Humane Association relies solely on your generous gifts to perform the life-saving work and care we give every day. With no national organization or government-funding (outside of grants), Nashville Humane is a local, community-driven, animal-focused 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
Your support of Nashville Humane directly impacts thousands of dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens each year, right here in Nashville, throughout Middle Tennessee, and across the globe! While in our care, each pet receives expert medical attention, daily enrichment, opportunities for play and socialization, and most importantly, as much love as a small little group of about 35 full and part time staff members plus hundreds of fosters and volunteers can muster!
With the vast majority of our operational funding coming directly from donors, it’s your support that proves essential for the vital care, programs and services that we provide to thousands of pets every year. And because of that support, we’re able to save around 4,000 lives every year and are proud to share our 99% annual save rate.
As a not-for-profit organization, all gifts are tax-deductible as allowed by law. Nashville Humane is highly rated on both Charity Navigator and GuideStar and we use a highly-secure giving platform (Classy.org) so you can give with confidence.

The Nashville Humane Association (NHA), incorporated in 1946 to protect the well-being of animals in Davidson County, is one of the oldest service organizations in Nashville. We are committed to finding responsible homes, controlling pet overpopulation, & promoting the humane treatment of animals.
